Oh yeah! Another day to play. :)
I got to spin some of the kool-aid dyed merino fluff today. Because the water bottle I carry this spindle in is smaller than the larger blue one, I have to get at least a quarter of it spun up to pack the last half of it up in there for school tomorrow.
I am getting so much happier with my handling of the fiber when I dye it now. The drafting of this is pretty much the same as it was before I dyed it. Once upon a time, I would have had some areas that kinked up and were more difficult to draft. But not this one. It floats apart! Sweet! I still don’t have aspirations to be a fiber-dyeing artist. But, it’s nice to know I can figure stuff out for myself when I need to do it.
It kind of looks like a wintry color theme what with all the cool colors, huh? Actually, I had thrown a little yellow-orange in it, but I guess it didn’t take too well. There’s only a little of that in different areas over the length of this braid. But, this is cool (no pun intended). I was just going for something where a lot of white would show so I could see how the end yarn darkened up in spite of it. A fellow blogger, Elizabeth spun up something similar not long ago. I saw an example of that in the Twisted Sisters Sock Workshop book years ago, but I never tried it for myself. In the example they showed where even if you just speckled the fiber supply with color, when you spun it up, you’d be amazed at how the colors would take over the length of the spun yarn. So, I’m preparing to be amazed! :)
